Robin Williams has been discussing his desire to appear in a Batman movie, stating that he'd play anything from The Riddler to an Arkham Asylum inmate in Batman 3.

Speaking to Empire Magazine about his work with director Christopher Nolan on Insomnia, Williams says "I would work with Chris again in a second, playing anyone in anything. I'd play The Riddler in the next Batman, although it would be hard to top Heath [Ledger] as the villain, and I'm a little hairy for tights." Williams even applies additional pressure by stating "I'm using this article as an ad. Chris, call me, I'll do anything. I could be a great character - or some weird little man in the background in Arkham Asylum."

The actor also spilled the beans regarding his chequered past with the franchise. "The Batman films have screwed me twice before" he explains. "Years ago they offered me The Joker and then gave it to Jack Nicholson, then they offered me The Riddler and gave it to Jim Carrey. I'd be like 'OK, is this a real offer? If it is, then the answer's yes. Don't pump me again, motherf**kers'."

It's been a while since Williams has done scary on screen, but if he reigns it in and delivers the same kind of creepy that won him so many plaudits in Nolan's Insomnia, he could be just the man for the Riddler role. What do you guys think?

I think he could do a great job.

Tim Burton's Batman 3 with Robin Williams as an obsessive-compulsive, homicidal Riddler

VS.

Joel Schumacher's Batman 3 with Jim Carrey as a stalker techno-geek teamed with Two-Face

VS.

Christopher Nolan's Batman 3 with Robin Williams as a politically radical cyber-terrorist Riddler

Yeah why not.

It will add horror immensely. The sight of middle age Riddler in green tights is enough to scare anyone already.

Haven't seen Insomnia yet though.

Robin would have worked very well 15 years ago in Tim's Batman 3, but not at his current age, not in this take on Batman... Sorry Robin, I love ya, I'd love to see ya, but not as the Riddler.

This, it's the Mork and Mindy voice he does, it just wouldn't suit the role, in Batman Forever yes, in Nolans Batman universe, no.

I could see him as a lame criminal (not riddler)

Yeah, I'd rather see him as a miner character than the main villian. Maybe someone involved with Wayne Enterprises, or a lame criminal.

He could replace Mr Reese

For continuity's sake I'd rather have him play a new character... oh what the hell, Mr Reese it is.

He needs to lose a lot of weight. In my eyes the riddler is extremely thin.

actually riddler is a normal weight kind of guy. he isn't extremely thin like scarecrow is, for example.

Sure! That way, Johnny Depp could play The Joker in the next reboot. :D

There wont be any reboots, theres no need. After nolan's the next directer can either continue or just start a new plot.

There will be another reboot guaranteed. Just not any time soon.

I laughed when I read the title but then I remembered One Hour Photo and how well he played that obsessive freak.

Well he seems to be up for everything, so why not the Ventriloquist? He's got the age, he can act as a wimp and he's very varied actor. He would be this kinda creepy little silent freak kinda guy. :) I find him as Riddler abit too old, unless Nolan wants to reinvent Riddler abit.

dammit, I was gonna say that! physcially and age-wise, he's much better suited to that character ... hell, I even think he could pull off the schizo dialogue brilliantly

personally, I can't see that happening tho ... the next villain is almost certianly gonna be the Riddler ... and my money is on Joseph Gordon Levitt or David Tenant

I don't know about Riddler.

However I could see him appear as Penguin in Nolans universe, he has pulled off serious roles in the past.

Hugo strange or ventriloquist would be good...

So no one else thinks he would make a good Robin... No...? (just me then) lol

Yeah, he would be a good Ventriloquist. I hope Nolan at least casts him as an extra.

I'd rather see Riddler than Scareface and the Ventriloquist. I hope Williams plays some other role, though.
