View Full Version : Fanfilm "Batman: City of Scars" Release tonight at Midnight
Maniac

The highly anticipated fanfilm "Batman: City of Scars" will be released tonight at midnight
on dailymotion.com (http://dailymotion.com/batinthesun).
When the Joker escapes from Arkham and murders the parents of a young boy, Batman recalls the pain of losing his own parents as a child. He is pushed past his limits to the point where his focus becomes revenge on all who stand in his way, including many of Gotham’s underworld. Finally, Batman is forced to look at the psychological profile of his own mind and except the consequences of his life to find resolve.
I've seen from a lot of the on set pictures (which are at http://www.youtube.com/batinthesun) the movie's appearance draws a lot from the same art style that Batman: Arkham Asylum drew from. It's dark and interesting, with fantastic color, and Batman looks completely in his element.
PS: I'm sorry for the new post about this mods, but this really is more of a new thread deserving. If you have to, just lock all other threads or unify this one with another.

Wow,Maniac,do you know the Schoenkes?Because this was phenomenal, and some might call me crazy, but this is one of my favorite Batman films. My advice:the 30-Minute run time is just about perfect for a pilot,And if they could do this with a limited budget,I'd die to see what batinthesun could pull off with a major studios(Warner Bros.)Backing.The bottom line is that with B3 coming out in 2012,Warner probably won't do another series for a few years, and they're going to need something to spotlight the character during that gap.I think a tv show like this would be just the thing,as I said, amazing.
Edit:P.S.Love the authenticity, and it left me wondering, where did the Ferrari come from!?!

I am speechless. That was the perfect Batman movie. I have to admit, I liked that more than any Hollywood produced Batfilm. Aaron Schoenke has some amazing talent, and Kevin Porter as Batman was just perfect.
They have to send this into WB. Once the Nolan trilogy is done, they're going to need someone else to reboot the Batman film franchise, so I think the Schoenkes should do it.

I still think a TV show would be better.

Well... that was pretty damn cool. :0
And this is coming from a guy who's done nothing but cringe at any Bat-fan films, Yeah, all of batinthesun's work aswell. But I gotta say, that was pretty great! Everything, the joker, batmans costume (Always hard to pull off, I'm impressed that they can make grey suit look menacing and badass on film) I am, though, disapointed they killed the Joker, that kind of thing always disapoints me. You probably shouldn't be trying to re-write batman mythos.. ( I know it's their continuity, but it just leaves me all like ugh inside) My personal gripe aside, everything was totally epic..
NOW GO MAKE KNIGHTFALL!!!

That was pretty awesome. I think if there's one thing, Batman's voice over maybe could have had more punch to it (not in his delivery, in the sound mixing). Other than that, good work. And I don't see that you can't kill the Joker because he's still alive in the mythos. This is like a graphic novel coming to life and in graphic novels, sometimes characters meet their ends, where they do not in the regular comic continuity. To deny them the ability to end it like they did, Jack, would be to deny them the ability to tell the story they wanted to tell with Batman. This is their story of an older Batman coming to grips with the fact he hasn't been able to stop the madness he set out to. Let them explore that scenario to the fullest, if they want.
Edit: Oh, and the theme song, City of Scars, was excellent. :)

Lol, the Joker reminded me of Michael Jackson in some parts of the movie, especially with the kid. :P
So far the movie is ok I guesse.
batfan08
06-18-2010, 11:35 AM
Really, when you think about it,the film seemed almost like a modern retelling of the joker's story in TDKR.I mean think about it,the outfit, the carnival, and ultimately:his death,it essentially was it's own story, but you could definitely see some nods, and that enhanced the experience IMO.

Oh I will! Every Batfan needs to watch this masterpiece. I can't believe how perfect Kevin Porter was for Batman. The voice sounded kinda like Kevin Conroy, he was built like Batman for sure, and his movements were so spot on!
Why hasn't he played Batman in a Hollywood film yet? Also, this is proof a spandex suit would look great in a live action film.
That was pretty awesome. I think if there's one thing, Batman's voice over maybe could have had more punch to it (not in his delivery, in the sound mixing).

I think when I first saw pictures of this project I laughed it off as another lame attempt but I must say, that was brilliant.
I just hope future movies will be as good as this and I pray these guys get approached to do a live action batman show, that would be amazing.
Butttt I only have one small problem, the bat symbol looks silly :/ haha

For the few people having a problem with viewing dailymotion videos, try updating your Flash client to version 10.1 at adobe.com
Also make sure that you're using recent drivers for your graphics card for best possible performance.
If you're just seeing darkness, wait a few seconds, the first few seconds of the video is just blackness anyway, until you see the production logo.

I really liked the voice. He sounded a lot better than Keaton, Clooney, Kilmer, and Bale.
I wasn't commenting on his voice, again, simply the level it was mixed in some of the voice over. I felt, especially during the pan up the building for the crime scene in the beginning, it was mixed a little low and needed some deep breadth added to make it pop a little more. That's all.
On a side note, though, the production sound was recorded quite well, from what I heard. I only wish all of the sound in the movie I am currently editing was recorded as well :p My job would be infinitely easier... lol

Well the blocker doesn't watch the video and determine whats in it so it's probably not to do with the films contents, it's probably more to do with your computer blocking dailymotion videos from being recieved - do you think you could ask your parents to remove the blocker while you watch the video?

I'd give him more credit than that. The way he sounded when he delivered his Bomb Pop line was very menacing & unique. And I loved the way his tone bounced around, even though he lost it a few times, it just made him sound more crazy. There were a few times it sounded forced and couldn't quite get there though. But I definitely felt he tried to do his own spin on the character, he dabbed in Mark & dabbed in Heath but he did his own things as well.

Gordon isn't black, that is Detective Allen i'm pretty sure. I think he was the same detective from the Gotham Knight movie. Did anyone else catch Black Canary? That was pretty subtle, but I liked it. The whole thing was rather good, and the ending was impressively narrated by Batman/Kevin Porter. I thought the Joker was spot-on, but I felt the kid actor was pretty awful. Harley & Scarface were great. Zsasz was a bit weird, but the whole wink thing made me think of the crazy eye Zsasz had early in his comic appearances. I hope to see more fan films like this.

I think they were trying to make Scarface sound like Wesker was actually doing ventriloquism, I think that's why he sounded a little funny and his duologue is usually written that way in the comics anyway, if I remember correctly he has trouble pronouncing Gs & Rs.
I thought the girl playing Harley did a pretty darn good job of playing the emotionally abused & sometimes conflicted character. Also I believe that was her singing the song at the very end of the movie and that made me like the song bc before I did not.
Zsasz wasn't in the movie long enough to make any real judgments on how the character was portrayed. Yes I wish he was in there longer but did I have any problems with what I saw? No.

for me being ( admitedly ) their harshest critic all along, this was BY FAR........... their best effort yet, and i wish they LEARN from this and keep on THIS scale of writing, driection, voice, action... etc.
WB should learn from people like this, & the people at rocksteady for what FANS want in a batman story. how batman moves, looks, acts and SOUNDS..... where all represented WELL in this 30 minute speech.
my MAJOR gripe was the end speech , it was FAR too long, and virtually pointless, but SOME of the scenes were wonderfully done.
and also, the small bit with the blond chick in the bar.... not only may she be one of the WORST actors ive ever seen, i suspect she earned her part by the NON audition type. she SURELY did not send in an audition tape and get hired for 'skill' .
all in all, ill give them a 7 out of 10 .

I think the Joker "acted" really well, the dialogue was great, as was his delivery at times. He was easily the best looking fan-film Joker I've seen, but I wish he would have spoken more harshly/deeper instead of high pitched. He also didn't seem to laugh as often as I thought he would.
