Need help w/ SR2

In soul Reaver 2 at the Dark forge there is a room with four pillars, one which moves, and four circles on the walls,which look like phases of the moon, and a comment that says shoot projectiles at puzzle targets. I shot all the circles and the fires but nothing happens shooting the mirror only makes the broken pillar flash. What am I doing wrong?

It took me a while to work out where you were, but what you do is you mover the piller to the centre position and look up at the roof and you shall see a blueish circle, you fire your projectile at that, so that when the piller is in the correct position....

You will find out.
