Does anyone have even a rough guess as to what the system requirements will be for DXHR? This is the system config I'm looking at buying which hopefully will be able to run it...
2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
80GB SSD
256MB ATI Radeon Mobility HD3450 (DirectX 10.1 capable)

It's not that bad. My rig is Duo 3,0GHz, HD 4850, 4GB RAM. I can run most things, with only a few "bells & whistles" turned off. A lot of the time I can run games at max. My FPS is never distractingly bad either.
A lot depends on if your gear actually works well together. Despite what some people may say, you can't just throw any pieces together and expect them to perform well. But if you have things that work well together, you can play things that have a "requirement" that seems to be significantly out of your league.

The graphics card won't be able to handle DX:HR, that much is guaranteed. ATI Mobility HD3450 is not capable of running games from the last couple years smoothly on even medium settings, no matter what CPU you pair it with.

Yes, it is a notebook setup. Based on my reading of system requirements it can run S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat which is pretty recent. I'm not expecting to run the latest games at 1600x1050 resolution, but I would hope that most games would be playable. Notebook are always going to be behind desktops in terms of graphics power, but I didn't think the ATI 3450 was that obsolete. My other option would be to go with a notebook equipped with the nVidia NVS3100m which is newer but I'm not sure if it's a significant improvement on the ATI 3450. It does have double the graphics RAM.
What kind of graphics chipset would be anticipated as a requirement for DXHR?

I'd choose a laptop with a GeForce 330M or 240M at a minimum if you want to run DXHR at increased detail settings. I'm basing this off of the general system requirements and performance requirements of other 2010 PC games.
Of the two options you presented, NVS3100m is a better choice. Not a lot better- you'll still be stuck with very reduced details- but you'll have a chance.

I don't have a problem with running at reduced details, as neither the HP 6930, Dell E6410, or Lenovo T410 offer GeForce 330M cards...they're all ATI 3450 or nVidia NVS3100m cards. I'm only looking at thin and light corporate notebooks. I think so-called "gaming laptops" are really pointless as they tend to be huge and have terrible battery life. If I want a dedicated game machine I'll buy a desktop, but for what I need I will have to make a performance/portability tradeoff trading performance for reduced size.

You could look at mid-size notebooks that offer the middle ground between powerful and portable. The 330M and it's ilk tend to be found there- it's a midrange GPU powerful enough for games without needing tons of heat or power. I don't want you thinking I was pointing you at gaming notebooks! :)

Look for a notebook with at lest 1gb of video ram. 256mb is assuredly not enough.

I'm still running on dual 8800GTXs, and the only game I can't run on max settings (excluding AA) is Aliens vs Predator, and that's only because the textures are horrendously uncompressed and exceed the memory of my graphics cards - it runs fine between pauses where it has to load in the new textures! (Or on levels where all the textures are loaded at the start.) The hardware market has slowed down a lot, no way I'd've been able to keep running new games at max on a 3-year old PC back in, say, 2005.

Not enough man, I agree with everyone else, especially Mr. K...
You gotta invest some money in your machine and I absolutely disagree that gaming laptops run out of power easily. They don't. You need to be familiar with different power settings though; that will help you save as much power as you can if you're not plugged in... I suggest you start looking at 17" gaming laptops. They are sweet and they won't disappoint you. http://www.meshcomputers.com/Default.aspx?PAGE=PRODCATEGORYVIEWPAGE&USG=APPLICATION&ENT=APPLICATION&KEY=784878
I know that's a British site but just look at those different ones and see what's best for you.. You can choose different laptops when you hover over "Laptops" etc.
Gaming ones would serve you for a long time + they're very fast + you can enjoy the latest gaming.
Good luck!
P.S. I'm guessing the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. COP can be ran at minimum settings with your graphics card but trust me, even if you did, the screen would tear like mad.

A gig of VRAM is overkill for most things, 512 will do fine.

There is something to be said for "screw graphics". While I wish DX1 looked better, I don't mind the 2000-era graphics since the total experience is so good.
Another thought...if this game is designed to run on consoles why would it need a high-end GPU? Are the Xbox360 and PS3 that much better than an ATI 3450HD?

Means that the game will not require expensive rigs. 9600GT >>> should be ok i guess......

Hey guys,
I'm a bit worried as well as to whether or not I'll be able to play:
2.66 ghz Quad core Intel Xeon 5500 series
3 GB RAM, 1066MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM
Nvidia Geforce GT 120, 512mb GDDR3
I don't mind lower detail settings, but I'm looking to play at HD resolutions. Will I need to update my graphics just to get smooth performance at low settings? Thanks.

Funny. Seriously though, if this is being developed off of an existing engine it should have similar requirements to existing games using that engine. What else is out there using that engine that's comparable that would give at least a guess as to what kind of hardware that will be needed?

Tomb Raider Underworld. It should be slightly more demanding than that. You should never go by the minimum system requirements though; you should look at the recommended sysreqs for a game and see how well your hardware stands up.
EDIT:
Here's a comparison chart of the different tiers of graphics cards, so you have an idea of about where in the spectrum between the baseline requirements and recommended requirements your graphics fall:

Thanks for posting that chart. It's a good quick comparison of ATI vs. nVidia. Is there a GeForce equivalent to the NVS3100m?

It should be in about the same tier as the GeForce 9300M and 9400M.
