Parachute won't open! PS3

Umm - my parachute won't open anymore.
Neither quitting the game, restarting the game nor restarting the console will cure this.
Which makes the game pretty useless now.

This followed the mission at the TV tower, with the satellites.

Any advice please?

The X button does work, because it performs other functions ok.

Try going in to the settings and choosing default settings, you could also try deleting the Just Cause 2 entry in the Game Data Utility folder of the XMB. Make sure not confuse this with your saved games which are in the Saved Data Utility folder of the XMB.
