I'm a complete loss trying to get this game to run. I've purchased it through steam, I'll try to explain my issues as thoroughly as possible.
I've checked the local game files through steam, and it verified that all game files were present, so nothing's missing from the download. Both t3.exe and t3Main.exe are set to run in compatibility mode for WinXP SP2 and are set to run as administrator. I've read about a number of problems such as the intro loop that are fixed by setting the game processes to run with only one processor if using a dual-core CPU, but...I'm not even getting that far.
If I launch the game through steam, I get the window "Preparing to launch Thief: Deadly Shadows..." which fades after a moment. User account controls then pops up asking me if I'll allow T3.exe to modify my computer. Clicking yes causes my mouse cursor to move to the "processing" animation for a moment (what would have been an hourglass in previous windows version, it's the little blue circle that spins now.) A few moments later, UAC asks me AGAIN whether to allow T3.exe to make changes. It loops endlessly like this. Turning UAC OFF does not fix it, the loop still occurs, but instead of seeing the UAC pop-up screen, it simply repeatedly shows the little blue circle.
I'm a bit frustrated. My brother got this to work on his PC after downloading it through his account with few issues, and he runs the same OS with a similar computer (Dual-core system with DDR2 800 memory). He had to jump through a few hoops like setting affinity modes, but I'm not even able to see the intro screens. The game simply locks up before ever getting off the ground.
Any help out there?
