ps3 resolution issue

i just bought just cause 2 and every time the game loads the resolution drops to 480p. my tv displays 1080p because most games play on that resolution and my xmb page is on 1080p too. i tried the display options in the in game menu and there was nothing to switch the resolutions. thanks for any help in advance.
p.s. i had the same problem with battlefield bad company2.

Do you have your PS3 hooked up to the TV with more than one set of wires? If you've got the old AV(red white and yellow) wires hooked up try pulling out the yellow one(the other two are used for sound and shouldn't affect the resolution)

nah the only cable i have from tv to ps3 is an hdmi. i have an optical cable too but thats for sound for my headset. Bheliom, do you play on ps3 and if so, what resolution does yours display on?

Yeah, I'm using a PS3 resolution 1080i. My tv wont do 1080p. My PS3 is hooked up with an hdmi cable which i use for both video and audio. I'm looking at the back of the Just Cause 2 package right now, though, and it says the games max resolution is 720p. Does you tv have a 720p setting? If not this could explain the drop to 480

JC 2 DOESNT support 1080p/i! Go and set up 720p option.
