Hi,
I had a 8800 gts 512, the other day i recieved a gtx 470, so i now have the 8800 as a physx card and the only game that crashes to desk top is just cause 2, i get a black screen for a few seconds and then it comes up with just cause 2 has stopped working.
Batman AA, Bad company 2, physx and tessallation demos all run very well.
Iīve uninstalled and re-installed but the problem still exists, i have allso disabled the physx card in control panel but still the same.
I could really do with some help please :)

My rig
i7 920
kingston 6gb. 1333Mhz.
Gigabyte EX58-UD5
Gainward gtx 470
XFX 8800 GTS 512 Alpha Dog Ed. (physx)
Thermaltake 750w

This game has known problems with Multi-GPU setups. Try disabling your phys-x card and running the game.

Thanx for your help,
Iīve tried that and it did not help, i also tried avp2 on steam in case it was something with steam but the game runs very smooth :)
But i think that even when i disable it in control panel that maybe it dedects it some how ?
not sure, i will desable the card in the bios and see if that helps.
Iīm suprised a game that uses physx hardware has problems with multi-gpu setups.

Could not disable it in bios so i removed it and the game works, but i feel that is not a real solution, having to put in and take out a gpu just for 1 game.
the gtx470 and the 8800 us different drivers and i had to install both of them to be detected in control panel, so maybe there is a conflict some where ? between the game and the different drivers ?. thatīs all i can think of.
I will wait for new drivers or a game update :)

If you have a gtx470, you really don't NEED a physx card, IMO. I'd just keep that 8800 around as an emergency backup card.

In Batman AA the minimum frames went from 32 to 45 with the 8800, i know its not needed in most games but the ones with hardware physx make a big difference

The only solution I can think of right now is waiting for a patch. This issue is widespread enough that Avalanche risks losing a lot of PC customers by ignoring the problem.

Thank you all for your help,
It is now fixed, i had a tv plugged in to the 8800 card and disabling it in the control panel fixed the problem :) after all the trouble i went through it was that simple :)
PS: This game is beautiful with 3d vision :)

You're welcome :). Glad you found a fix! And, about the 3d vision, I know, but I can't do it, since I'm running on a GTX260, plus my monitor dosen't support it.

The only driver you should be installing is the one for the 470. Essentially it's the same driver for the 8800 except there are a couple of things in it specific to the 470.

That`s what i tried to begin with, but my pc would not recognize the 8800 as a nvidia card, and would just show up as a vga adapter in device manager, and in the nvidia control panel where the physx options are, it would not give me the option to select wich card i wanted to use as physx.
First i installed the drivers for the 8800 then i installed the drivers for the 470 and all wen`t well, with great performance in all games, the only problem i`ve found is that i have to disable my secondary tv to play just cause 2, so i`m happy with my pc and will leave it as it is for now :)
The gtx470 is a great card compared to my old 8800 gts :)

It's because you don't have anything connected to the 8800GT, if you would hook it to a monitor, or make a dummy plug (http://www.overclock.net/folding-home-guides-tutorials/384733-30-second-dummy-plug.html) like this, you see, nvidia and all their wisdom and bullcrap decided if nothing is connected to it and it isn't in SLI or has anything ati related it won't work, just suck power. They should be sued over this for not letting you do what you want to do with the hardware YOU bought, but meh, what ever, physx will go the way of the dodo thanks to DX11 and openCL and I'm ok with this.

Also, I don't know what everyone is saying about multi-gpu issues, I have 2 8800GT's and never had an issue with JC2, other than being able to get them really really hot, but then again they are GT's which means they have single slot design behind them and I haven't gotten around to getting them something better.

Just for the record, Just Cause 2 does NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT USE PHYSX, NOR DOES IT USE CUDA so don't expect it to make any use of your dedicated card whatsoever.
