yee gads, I hope not ...
... also, this reeks of DC trying to copy Marvel as the Spiderman musical has been on the bill for years now (and apparently U2 are doing the music?!)

You guys need to ACTUALLY READ the article, it sounds like an absolute dream come true. It's not a musical or theater production.
"The show is neither a musical nor a Broadway-bound theatrical production but rather an elaborate arena production aimed at kids and families,"

It would be sweet if it was like some Medieval Times with some cirque du soleil. Like Matches say, make a big arena and have Batman lurking up in the rafters with the audience looking for him as well.

It makes me think of the live Indiana Jones shows they do at Disney World, those are awesome.
There are only two things I like more than Indiana Jones, Han Solo & Batman.

Yes, I hope that people did read that. It still doesn't negate how humorous Batman on stage is :p

I don't see it as humorous at all, I'm flat out stoked. It probably wouldn't even be on a stage more just in the center of an arena.
Walking with the Dinosaurs, a previous production done by the same studio, is a show I desperately wanted to see. Skeptics should check out the link below.

Imagine a set of Gotham City constructed and all these action scenes are being played out, Batman zip lining around the place while Joker is wreaking havoc with explosives around the set.

fair point
Walking with Dinosaurs was pretty damn good as far as spectacle went ... but how do you integrate a plot into something like this?

This could actually be pretty awesome if it's being scripted by DC veterans.
Have you guys ever seen the Batman stunt shows at Six Flags? It sounds exactly like that. Those were always fun shows to watch, with entertaining stunts and some great effects.

I just hope its based around the comics and not around the movies or a tv show.

Believe me, it can be cool and I hope it is. As a kid, or even now, I'd have loved to have seen it when they had the '89 Batman running around in theme parks, but I never was able to then. That, or the Terminator 3D thing they had going on, or the stuff you're talking about with Indiana Jones, and such :)

This could be really neat,a Mr.Freeze part comes up,it begins to snow, and the stadium gets extremely cold, vines pop through the ground as Poison Ivy enters. As the Joker comes through, hordes of chattering teeth clamor at the audiences feet, not to mention the involvement of some TAS alumni, this could be phenomenal.

I don't really see a reason not to be...

The way you talk about converts me from being skeptical to excited Malone.

Well I think the "innocent till proven guilty" logic applies, until there is a shred of evidence that suggests this won't be awesome I/we have no reason not get excited.
I just think people have theatre & musicals stuck in their head, its not the same. It's probably more similar to stunt shows that you see at theme parks.
