I definitley am, as both the singleplayer and the multiplayer (especially the freeroam with the posses as the lobby thing lol) look k00L and 'EFFIN OWSUM! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! :)

Although, I am pissed off that Rockstar is completeley ignoring Red Dead Revolver, not even mentioning that this was a sequel to that game, and saying that this game is the "first game of its kind". Hell, they are not even acknowledging the damn game. Its a shame though as Red Dead Revolver was one of the best original Xbox games I ever had. Plus, the reason it was called Red Dead Revolver was because the main character's name was Red Harlow. So since Red Dead Redemption does not even have Red in the game, and instead features John Marston, why even call it the same game and keep it as the "spirtiual successor/sequel". It should not even be considering in the same series, as Revolver is a linear western third-person shooter action-adventure video game, while Redemption is a non-linear western sandbox-style third-person shooter action-adventure video game. What the foxtrot? Oh well. Sorry for my rant. :)

Btw: I have an Xbox 360. w00t roflmaoqwerty. OMGWTFBBQ! :)

In addition, I have noticed that several people on this forum talk about and want to buy Red Dead Redemption, so if anyone wants to play multiplayer on this game (or Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or any other Xbox game online, just compare games with me to see if I have it), my gamertag is The Zoo Boy. However, you cannot send me a friend request (at least on this account, you can send me a friend request on MJP 111 and Albert Wesker55) as I have 100 friends. Hopefully, since the April 14th update discontinued the original Xbox Live service, Microsoft will make an update so we can have more than 100 friends so then I'll add you all then yay! Until then, you are still welcome and encouraged to send me party and game invites, just tell me who you are from the forums.

Also, the theme song for Red Dead Revolver is called "Ballata Per Un Pistolero" (Ballad of the Gunman, literally Ballad to a Gunfighter) and the link for the song is here (as well as some other Red Dead Revolver/Redemption links):

"In the April cover of Game Informer, Red Dead Redemption was listed as being for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Although listed, a PC version has not yet been confirmed."

Courtesy of the Wikepedia article of Red Dead Redemption (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dead_Redemption) under "Development", although I also have that same April Game Informer magazine and can also officially confirm that Wikepedia is correct. Hope this helped you (and others) out. :)

I'm not sure I would want to play the PC version. I would have gotten JC2 on PC if I hadn't had such a bad experience with GTAIV, Saints Row 2 and Red Faction: Guerrilla. Of course, I'm regretting that now, but third-person freeroam games just have been buggy as heck on PC lately so I decided to do PS3.

Really want to get this game, but I also need the money to cure my Mapathy for MW2... I could trade in my old copies of Bioshock and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion... Not sure.

Only reason would probably be for multiplayer. Single player looks like, well, not crap but not as good as the multiplayer. I thought it was OK at best at first, but now that all the multiplayer stuff that I've seen... I want it.

A confusing conundrum indeed...Just Cause 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Bioshock, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and upcoming hit Red Dead Redemption are all epically amazing games. A petty predicament indeed...

I say get sum more moniez and keep all of your epiclly amazing games and get to buy Red Dead Redemption...yeah, it's multiplayer does look SICK! :)

I forgot we're judging games based on their inclusion of motor-powered modes of transportation.

Let's go ahead and write off every game that doesn't have automobiles. Mario, Zelda, Sonic, and so on.

Go play Gran Turismo and leave us alone.

Uncharted 2 will almost certainly never come to PC, since Sony publishes it and it would be kind of weird for them to distract from the PS3 version.

On the other hand, it's a pretty good bet to count on RDR making its way to PC at some point. Almost every Rockstar game releases a PC version awhile after the console versions.

You can thank Euphoria for that.

NaturalMotion's Backbreaker is the only 'football' (I know many of you are from other parts of the world where football is soccer, a much better sport) game that I have ever considered playing and am actually excited for because of Euphoria.

If you like what Euphoria does for games, download the Learning Edition of Endorphin for free from NaturalMotion's website and see what you can make with it!

Euphoria is the only engine that really keeps me coming back to games. I wouldn't play GTAIV as much if it weren't for Euphoria, or The Force Unleashed. And Red Dead Redemption will keep me busy for weeks, if not months.

It's funny how so many people talk about trading their games in.

I would never trade my games in due to the simple fact that I don't get very much money from it.

Essentially, you're giving your game to a store for quite a bit less money compared to what you originally paid. In return, the store will turn around and sell it for almost full retail price at ridiculous profit, and you'll get to use the pennies they give you to take a few bucks off another game.

How is that a good deal? You're just throwing your money away.

I've got mine pre-ordered as well, and I agree with Talidan's statement about Euphoria giving a boost to GTA IV, Force Unleashed and now RDR. I am also expecting RDR to have more extra or sandbox content than seen with IV, (after beating the main game) so I am looking forward to that.

Also glad to be able to jump into another world that has a nice open and natural landscape.

It should not even be considering in the same series, as Revolver is a linear western third-person shooter action-adventure video game, while Redemption is a non-linear western sandbox-style third-person shooter action-adventure video game. What the foxtrot?

Wait, the single-player experience of RDR is linear? I thought it was open-world sandbox like the first game..

Edit: This was taken directly from xbox360.ign.com:

Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teaming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions. Along the way, players will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.

... Sounds pretty "non-linear" to me. You act like you're all upset because this game strays from its roots, but you call it "linear" when it is most definitely the complete opposite of "linear"... do your research holmes, maybe you won't be so pissed at the game once you actually know what it's about.

You will be able to hunt boar, moutain lions, and wolves. With your friends too. Even if that's just it for the extra stuff, it's still pretty cool, but knowing Rockstar there will be a whole lot more.

I hope so too, but IMO, they've been getting better and better, so I think it will be awesome.

As for the animals; I never just kill animals in a game for the heck of it - I need a purpose, (like for health in Metal Gear) and still tend to leave the friendlies alone. So from what I've read so far, it sounds like RDR will do it right with food, skins, etc. Aside from the cool atmospheric aspect of having wildlife though, I really hope they make the predators you mentioned deadly/intelligent. The only things I really like hunting in games is something that can kill you.

So, anyone else wanna know some of the things that can be done in RDR?

Not all horses are created equal, though--the game features a huge range of different breeds roaming its wilds and available at various shops throughout the world. Different horses have varying stamina and top speeds, so you can pick whichever suits your needs, but you can have only one at any given time. Or, if you're feeling particularly coldhearted, you can just shoot the poor filly, skin her, and then flog her flesh and hide to the nearest merchant. The West is an unforgiving place.

The skinning process itself is fairly gruesome, especially for larger animals. The sounds in particular may unsettle the stomach, as may the blood spattering the screen as you see John struggle with his blade. If none of that does, then the sound of flies buzzing around the pink and skinless corpse on the floor shouldn't trouble you either. Killing and skinning the variety of creatures roaming the world also earns you respect as you work through the game's challenges. Killing a bird in flight, for instance, opens up the first level of a sharp-shooting challenge. Kill a few more, and level two opens up (along with a small but significant fame reward), which involves finding and shooting rabbits. Progressing through the various challenges (we also found hunting and flower-picking ones in our time with the game) earns you fame and access to new missions and items.

Seeing as how it is now out, I decided to revive this thread :D

I am having so much fun with this game. The hunting, the cattle herding, the atmosphere...it's all awesome.

I mean...I JUST found some guy near some railroad tracks with a dead women right before him while he was on his knees in front of her, obviously saddened by whatever just happened. A gun was next to her body. After about 15 seconds of him pleading to the sky, looking at her body, etc he picked up the gun and killed himself.

How crazy is that? I was just traveling along and came across that.

It's an amazing game and the best game to come out this year so far, in my opinion. No offense to Just Cause 2, but RDR has lassoed me in. Speaking of which, you can lasso people and hogtie 'em. I execute them after :D

Yeah, I played about an hour of single player (helped the ranch hands following the dog and saved by going to sleep) Then I went online for a bit, met up with some chap and we shot a few dudes ( I think they were NPCs) but not too long and the connection had an error - MP is a bit buggy right now. I'm really liking the game so far.

That story of the dude and dead woman is crazy - I like hearing of all the stuff we'll find in this game.

That story of the dude and dead woman is crazy - I like hearing of all the stuff we'll find in this game.

It's been a day since I posted that and all sorts of other crazy stuff has happened since then. Just a few minutes ago I was about to save my game in Armadillo and I hear gunshots outside of the saloon. I go out and find a group of people riding through town, shooting their guns in the air, and dragging a lady along by a rope from one of the horses.

It's freaking crazy how many random things have happened! I LOVE THIS GAME

spaceboy
05-20-2010, 05:35 AM
I'm really quite still in the beginning, but I was in Armadillo in the saloon (just knocked back a brandy lol) and I hear a woman screaming and fighting so I run outside but all I see apart from the normal crowd is a man running down the street. I chased after him - had to call my horse to catch him -still wonder how the horse unhitches himself, but no bigge :) I wound up killing him even though I wasn't sure what he did or didn't do. I've gotten bitten by a snake, someone tried to jack my horse, I stopped a robbery but the treasure hunter died and I took his map. I shot a coyote (shot the snake too for its skin). This game is astounding.

Talidan
05-20-2010, 07:55 AM
The wildlife is amazing too. So far I have come across snakes, rabbits, skunks, coyotes, cougars, wild horses, wild bulls, foxes, raccoons, armadillos, deer, bucks, chickens, goats (not wild, but I skinned them anyway after killing the farmer), wild dogs, pigs and wolves.
I know there are bears because to go up a rank in Sharpshooter challenge involves killing 3 bears with one shot each.
Not to mention all the different birds that fly around. Vultures, hawks, crows, songbirds and owls.

I found the easiest way to make lots of money is to just hunt like crazy. The best thing to go for are hawks. Their feathers are worth $6 each and you usually get at least 2 feathers from each hawk. I have nearly $3000 thanks to hunting. Probably half of it is thanks to hawk feathers. After about 20 minutes of hunting hawks, I usually have 50-60 feathers which sells for $335-$360.

I don't think I'm going to do multiplayer for a while. I'm having too much fun with single player.

That wasn't too well written, but I do have a series planned that I will start on when time permits. I've even had offers from publishers when some of my stuff got out, but I was kind of at an awkward place in life so I turned them down.

Woohoo! :D

ALSO, did you know that the best way to get rid of tree sap off your hands, or most any surface, is to use olive oil?! Just a little bit on the area with sap and wipe it off with a paper towel. Sometimes it takes a little rubbing, but it usually will come right off.

I'll inform you of more things if you want! :O

Anyone elses game freeze up during loading on the mission 'The gates to El Presido' or something like that?
Mines Xbox version. Apparently a few people have this problem, that story mission just won't load.
I bet those game testers are never going to get hired again.
Anyway the reason I ask is for the odd chance someone has any fix suggestions.

In many cases the testers may not come across certain issues because of things like system updates, DRM or last minutes updates that may have broken something further in. Having BETA several games I can tell you that as a tester there is nothing more annoying than signing off on a game only to have it mess up because of some minor things added later.

I have no friends on my PS3 :(

But c'mon. HUNTING! :D HUNTINGGGG...WITH FRIENDS (if you have any)!

I'll find at least one person to hunt with.

I sent you a friend request, you just haven't accepted. :rasp:

I was only kidding lol. Im sure they would have tested the missions before it was released haha.

Wrong game? Wrong thread? Or wrong company?

I think xbox360kris was saying that RDR already has a patch and it came out a good deal after JC2.
