Last few days I have hid under bridges, in small camps and also try blending in with crowds to make the heat wear off. Its pretty fun to try and get it off once you have a few vehicles and a copter on you :nut:

I find it's distance, more than cover, that gets heat off you. Run/chute/drive/fly away from the cars & helis and soon you're good to go. Kinda promotes hit & run tactics. What does piss me off is when the military helis loiter, meaning you can't start any trouble without having them straight on your ass. Makes it hard when trying to 100% locations.

It's definitely distance.
You can fly up really high and get the heat off.
Do I do it? Yes.
Do I like it? No, it takes far too long to ditch heat and get's very annoying.

I use cover very often, I especially like the civilian buildings in the desert and mountain regions, crouch behind the balcony wall and your covered, heat might take longer to go down as opposed to putting distance between you and the enemy, but less chance of losing health.

It's the distance and not cover that reduces the heat, thats a pity tho!

Oh, I know that, it's just far too slow.
Hell, no matter what way you try it it's far too slow.

If the heat didn't jump up in leaps and bounds I'd be fine with the speed of the decrease, but as it is you can get to ridiculous heat levels in an instant and then wait forever for it to go away.

Hell, no matter what way you try it it's far too slow.It works for some and not for others, in most battle simulations I prefer the role of sniper, in real life a pro sniper can remain hidden in one position for hours waiting for the best shot, some have even been known to wait days hidden waiting for their target to show, I doubt of course I could do days, but certainly hours, game wise I have absolutely no problem remaining in cover waiting for the heat to go off.

Wow. See I'm all for being a sniper, and I love my stealth games, and in most games I have quite large patience.
But you can get giant heat so easily (hell if I sneeze at a gaurd now I have two helicopters on my ass) and it takes so long to lose it that it's not about stealth or strategy anymore, it's about accidentally going somewhere and then having to hide for ten minutes because of it.
Either that or kill, kill, and kill endlessly until you die.

To me, the way they use the heat in this game is the games biggest downfall. It destroys the strategy and fun of the game.

If I'm near water, I just dive under and it goes away pretty quickly. If you stay near the surface it won't work, but go deep enough and your breath will definitely last long enough to lose heat. The heat is very sensitive in JC2 I've found, sometimes not even making much sense.

That's a pretty good technique since you're able to remain underwater for what is actually an unrealistic amount of time. I usually find that crouching on the top of a tall building works well at diminishing heat, unless they've called in air support of course.

I generally fight them off. Eventually they run out of things to throw at you for long enough that Heat reduces back to around level 1. Then you can just huddle up under an awning or something, and it's all good.
