View Full Version : How To Stop Your Maps Going Currupt!

This works on PS2 and might work on GC or XBOX

1. ALWAYS load your maps in MapMaker. If you load it from the main MapMaker menu (Edit/Create new map etc.) there is a higher chance it will go currupt.
2. Make a backup of your file and add a 2 on the end of the name.
3. After you load your map NEVER leave your memory card in the PS2. If your map crashes with your memory card in the PS2 there is a 75% chance that your map will go currupt.
4. If you want to overwrite your map file ALWAYS delete it, exit the save menu, re-enter the save menu then save.

These tips work for me 100% the time and my maps haven't gone currupt since I figured this out :p

Haven't had chance to try these out yet BrooniE, but what do you mean by 3? You mean remove the card when the PS2 is off, right?

Okay, I'll try it but that sucks man - what are they doing that corrupts the card when the damn machine isn't even on?

Hang on - do you mean remove the card when the game is on - cos that isn't supposed to be good either is it? AArgh! FRD!

Right, what do you mean by corrupt?

My problem is that sometimes (er, actually, all the time) my maps crash at the end of the loading bar when i try to preview/play them in STORY mode.

Is this what you are referring to. I have a PS2 and GC, but i own the GC version of TS2.

Hi Icedive.

Just read your posts on this thread and Mapmaker Bugs Inc. I kinda agree with your sentiments over the bugs, but have you tried the methods described in this thread and Bugs Inc?

Since using the 'short burst' method of map building (see Bugs Inc.) I haven't had any further problems with the 'load crashing'. Its a bit of a pain to do it this way, but once you get used to it it becomes second nature, and if it saves your hard-built level from oblivion its worth it right?

You don't mention any save corruption so I guess you haven't experienced this, and from the 'lack' of feedback it seems as though its an isolated problem (phew-PS2 only?). The methods described by Broonie (this thread) are worth a try (I haven't tried them yet myself - anyone else had success?) if this happens. Good luck:)

when a map goes currupt it will say LOAD FAILED, don't ask me how this happens because I don't know.

So far I've been lucky and nothing of mine has gone corupt.....yet! I pretty much go by those guidelines highlighted in the top of the thread without thinking about it. It's just common sense really.

Hmm... well on my GCN I've never had LOAD FAILED appear...

1. Never had that happen. Once a map is 'finished' I almost exclusively load it in the MapMaker main menu.

2. Hmm, maybe.

3. Uh... you mean take it out after it loads but while your PS2 is running? Dude, no wonder your maps are going corrupt... memory cards should only be removed or inserted while the console is OFF, I've lost data on my N64, DreamCast, and PSX a few times because of that.

4. I have yet to do that too :p and things still work just fine...

Well I ALWAYS take my PS2 memory card out after I load my user profiles, put it back in after MapMaker has fully loaded, load a saved map (if I need to), then remove it again until I'm ready to save the map.

I've never had any problems, but a friend of mine did because I went to his house and he went to load map on the main MapMaker menu (Edit/Create new map etc.) and it said Loading..... (5 seconds later) LOAD FAILED.

I think it only does this on the PS2 version of the game but I couldn't be shure.
