My startup and game loading times are slow. The loading indicator for example turns around very slow on my system and it takes me 15 seconds on the first startup screen. It spins super fast and loads almost instantaneously on my brothers pc which roughly has the same specs!

http://i.imagehost.org/0734/slowspin.png

My specs: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 800~3600MHz @ 1,4V | Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B | Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 Rev 1.0 F2 | GeIL DDR3 Black Dragon DC 4GB GB34GB1600C8DC @ 1,6V 1600MHz 8-8-8-28 2T tRC37 | Club3D ATi Radeon HD5850 | Intel SSDSA2MH080G2R5 80GB | Corsair TX650W

Running stock 3200Mhz or OC'd 3600Mhz makes no difference.. I'm a bit worried, but it could be a driver issue. Running Catalyst 10.3, antivirus disabled, no real cpu eating things running in the background.

How fast does your loading indicator spin and how long does it rougly take to start the game and load a savegame? Please also mention relevant specs. Thanks!

/EDIT: vsync (JC2's or 3rd party) causes the slow startup/loading times.

Mine spins around slow when starting up, still takes under 15 seconds to get to menu, of course thats after pressing a redundant enter twice.

| Intel SSDSA2MH080G2R5 80GB |This could be the reason for slow loading times, being only 80 gig I'm guessing it's not a modern drive, run disk cleanup and disk defrag, also attempt to find out of the drive is making use of DMA and cache.

My brother has an nVidia. Maybe it's an ATi issue? Hope it's not some nVidia trick to frustrate ATi owners, like the rest of their 'exclusive features'

That's an SSD, Solid State Drive, the fastest drives available and that's why it is a small size because they're damn expensive.

Anyway, mine was loading very quickly, can go from the menu into game within 10 seconds but yesterday it was loading slowly just like yours and now today it's back to normal, something to do with Steam maybe?

Ahhh, I'm hoping to get SSD myself, pref 128GB, Steam may have slowed it but only if it just installed something, it could be windows performing background maintenance.

A note on SSD, the last time I checked the file system seem to handle smaller chunks like 4kb better than larger, say 64kb, that may have changed, it's been a while since I read upon them, still way too expensive in my opinion.

I used the commandline options once to enable vsync=1 and dxbuffer=3
Game loaded everything super slow when I did that.

Hmm, very weird. The game files are on my SSD (using the excellent How To: Split a Steam Install (Vista/7) tutorial (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1138731&highlight=ntfs+junction).

Removing my launch parameters (/frameratecap=60 /hbao=0 /ssao=1) didn't help.

Turn off V-Sync, it's what causes this issue. There is a huge difference in load times when it is enabled. Stupid if you ask me...

Thanks! Although vsync is disabled in my JC2's options, killing D3DOverrider fixed the startup time! But I can live with it, because I need vsync :)

Seems like vsync in this game is broken in two ways:
- it causes switching from 60 to 30fps
- it causes slow startup and loading times
