Kick-Ass will be a good step showing that teenager superheroes and sidekicks are cool for sure. :thumb: The comic is sickeningly violent and depressive. This movie seems more comical while still having the violence up. :thumb:

I'm surprised that they'd let a thirteen-year-old girl to be exposed to rated-R content (underaged to even be a part of it) in one of the movies containing the most excessive blood in movie history. I'm not complaining.. :) this movie looks like it. will. Kick. Ass.

I think she was 11 when production started. Yeah, not a fan of kids cussing on screen, honestly. But, I'm sure the film will be decent.

It is indeed a curious and perhaps worrysome aspect of seeing 11 year olds murdering and swearing in a superhero flick, but hey atleast we're getting more R rated superhero movies. :thumb:

I have a lot of hope for this movie. Having seen all the trailers and some sneaked horrible quality clips from a comic book show I have to say this movie looks to kick major butt.
I had to remove the red trailers due to language but I did add a link to the official website.

Time to start writing that apology letter, bah humbug!
Tho yeah if people here are fans of brutal and when i say brutal. I mean like close to Hostel level brutality. Kick-Ass is the comic book for you! I'm sure the movie will make the Book go mass scale and people can find it at Book Stores and whatnot sooner or later. Not just Comic shop stores.
Not to mention i'm anxious for Nic Cage to channel some Adam West Batman for his Big Daddy portrayal. :thumb:

Man i just got back from the advance screening of Kick-Ass. What an awesome truly glorius comic book superhero movie! With references to various comics from old to newer indie comics, to downright making fun of Batman. :D The script/screenplay works wonderfully, the characters are far more optimistic from their comic counterparts not to mention the movie is alot funnier too! Definatly getting the soundtrack, because the various songs we're just downright perfect and oh man the last 20 mins..... Over the top awesomeness. 10/10 easily.

Awesome to hear man. Yeah this is really being a great start for comic book fans. Can't wait for the uncensored Blu-ray with extra scenes (Mark Millar's cameo) and behind the scenes stuff.

Well i truly hope it was your money's worth. :) Can't wait for the Blu-ray with all the special features. I heard they removed scenes that had cameos from the comic creators (Mark Millar and John Romita Jr) and so on.
I just hope the movie gathers enough money with in 2-3 weeks before Iron Man 2 comes out. We really need more R-rated superhero flicks.

I have a question. This was a Marvel Comic correct? Because on the Marvel Message Boards, there is nothing for this movie in the movie sections.

I just want the movie to make enoug movie to quarentee a sequal. Being number 2 and a family 3D movie taking number 1 spot is still good. Considering Kick-Ass is r-rated, with only Nic Cage as the big star, and not to mention people don't really know who or what Kick-Ass is about. I mean they know it's a comedy, but in the end the movie is much more brilliant than that.

Saw this movie last night, and the one thing I didn't get was the relationship between some of the characters. That Razoul guy was bothering the girl that Kick-Ass liked, but what was the connection? Was he trying to get her to buy drugs or something? Also, I didn't understand how it was necessary to show the Dave's mom dying in the beginning and on top of that after he was stabbed in the fight that the car totally pummeled him. Maybe it was just dramatic effect, but I felt it was a little over the top.
I loved the references to other comic book heroes too, especially the parts about how Batman's batarang could cut through stuff, etc. I also liked the similarity to Batman Begins when they had the "training" session with guns.
The only thing that would have made this movie better was if Nicholas Cage wasn't in the movie. They needed a more bad-ass character to play Big Daddy...

Well the whole movie is over the top really. :D Dave's mother's dead was used to mock all the superheroes who are motivated by a loved one's death really, and the relationship between the drug dealer and Katie was that, Katie had tried to help him, but ended up getting harassed. She worked in some drug-help-center or something along those lines.
And how can you say that about Nic Cage? He stole the show with his Adam West Batman speech pattern.

True, the Adam West speech pattern was pretty good, I just don't think he's an "action" actor...

I don't hold judgement on actors based off their other movie performances. Since he did a brilliant job as Big Daddy and his action scenes especially on the Warehouse was just so stunningly fluid. Why should i care about how his action scenes have been performed elsewhere?

Really? I find that hard to believe Draz. You've NEVER said "I don't want to see that movie because 'so-and-so' is in it? If they have terrible performances in their last few movies, chances are that the next one will be terrible too. If that's the case and I really want to see the movie, I'll wait to rent the DVD before I spend money on theatre tickets.
I gave Cage the benefit of the doubt for this movie, since I figured he was a minor character, but oh well. I liked the sequences where he was the superhero character, it just sorta ruined the feel of the character when you saw that it was Nicholas Cage under the mask, for me at least.

Well i read reviews on this case, but we we're talking about Cage's performance. Not whenever or not you people here wanted to see the movie because of Nicholas Cage.

Which is perfectly fine. It's your opinion about the actor and i respect that. I may not agree or like it, but i can't force you to like Y or X actor you know? :) Aslong as it didn't ruin the movie and you enjoyed it, thats whats important. :)

Right, and I'm saying that his performance was ok...until he took the mask off :p Basically, they could have had Brad Pitt in the suit to the same effect..not that I'm reccommending that approach, but the sequences with the superhero stuff were awesome...the other scenes (with Nicholas Cage) were not so much. Don't take that to mean that I didn't like the movie, I thought it was pretty decent overall :)
By the way, as a proof of point that you won't be able to convince me to like Y or X, I will never go see a movie with Sarah Jessica Parker in it, she just makes me cringe. :mad2:
