the correct term is altimeter and yeah, that would be cool

Well Alti-Meter is just short for Altitude Meter but yeah point taken.

Thing is, it won't be accurate for how close you are to the ground.

As it has to be taken from the lowest point possible and due to terrain being differing heights you won't know how "close" you are until you go splat.

Good for knowing how high that's about it..

yea sure why not, I wouldn't mind to see exactly how high up I am at any given time. =p

how about there are 3 bars on the Altitiude Meter?

The bottom one will be blue and this will represent Sea Level, and will be right at the bottom of the Altimeter.

the second bar will be green and will represent the level of the land directly below you, such as passing over a flat plain will have the bar near the bottom, but going over a mountain range will cause the bar to move up and down considering how high the ground is,

and the third bar will be white and represents Rico's current altitude, so the closer the white bar is to the green bar, the closer to ground you are, when the white bar is directly over the green bar you are on the ground.
