Is anyone else a little disappointed with the reviews that have been coming out? It seems like they're all saying it's going to be good, but not great. I have been so excited about this game for more than a year now, but all these reviews are making me doubt how the good the game is really going to be. It makes me feel like I'm missing something since all the videos and stuff make it look like a perfect game. Any thoughts? :hmm:

I'll wait till I play the game myself and not listen to rushed previews of which most of em are ***** anyway who only had a few hours, therefore only experienced about 0.01% of the Chaos in JC2! :nut:

Don't forget, previews are only little snippets of the game...

I understand that, but most of the reviews aren't off by a whole 2 numbers! Didn't it only get an 8/10 for gamestop? That just seems pretty low in comparison to what I have been watching!

These are Previews, not Reviews which are the ones which count for something ;)

Don't let the thoughts of critics cloud your own view of the game. If you think the game looks perfect, then it's a perfect game in your eyes. Reviews should be read with a grain of salt. Different people have different views and opinions of different things.

Read the reviews, fine. But make sure that when you play the game for yourself, you have the fun that you want to have, not the scored, reviewed fun that a critic has judged. Read the reviews as a guide of how others see the game, not yourself, and have fun when you get your copy.

Hope this helps ;)

Oooohhh. Touche. But why are the previews giving ratings then? that doesn't seem right...

Just as an indication, so if it's getting 8/10 for only a couple of hours gameplay, the Review Should be amazing!

I understand that I shouldn't base my entire outlook of Just Cause on these ratings, but they just surprised me seeing as how Bioshock 2 got plenty of 4/5's and 9/10's and I didn't like it very much at all.:hmm:

Everyone has there own opinions and preferences so Previews & Reviews aren't 100% fact for life.

Precisely. Make your own judgement when you can grab a copy :)

I wouldn't worry about JC being crap. It looks like amazing fun and screw it if it has a "shallow story". I honeslty just want mindless, thoughtless carnage. That's the purpose of the game after all: to cause chaos.

Plus, an 8/10 is pretty swell anyways. I'm expecting 7s from big name critics. I'm sure I'll have a higher number in my own review though :)

How the hell is this game getting reviewed when the game isn't due out for a whole nother month!?

and why do the reviewers keep claiming JC2 is repetitive? What part of the game is repetitive?

I read reviews sometimes and they rate games I play alot lower than I thought they deserved so I don't really pay much attention to reviews, only experience of the game itself can give a taste of how good it will be for you.

listen the only reason why they arent a perfect 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5, or 100 out of 100 is because its an open world game and every open world game gets repetitive. Don't lose faith just because some missions are repetitive.

It wont get a 9+ because it isn't hyped. i don't think that theres one un-hyped game thats ever got a 9/10

People should just play the demo, play the game, and keep your own opinion of it.
Magazine people HAVE to pick on at least one new game to keep their job, that's why some games that are amazing get given a bad review. Look at GTA IV ... OMFG!!! Worst GTA game EVER, yet the review for that was amazing.

All in all, game reviewers can suck my ... You know what ;)

Look, reviewers are not "real" gamers....they dont see games like we do....its theyre job and they sometimes review a game because they have to....they play "rushed" because they have other games to play on schedule....they give the game an overall average run without trying everything it offers....they dont even pay for the game so they dont care about how to get the most enjoyment out of it, but just about having that report ready by 5pm....ohh....and theyre totally biased towards popular franchises....in short, I dont totally trust theyre words....but theyre useful for giving heads up on what to expect like an example, if they say they spotted certain glitch, some bland textures, loose controls, ect, ect,...then thats valuable info....theyre score, i usually ignore it unless its really low.

The demo needs to come out, and it needs to be a substantial cross-section of gameplay, otherwise, people who have only played the full version they paid for will have paid for something they don't like.

Personally, I tend to largely ignore game reviews. By and large professional reviewers tend to focus on and heap praise upon those games that have massive name power (I'm looking at you, MW2). I have yet to find an official game review with which I completely agree; the day that happens I might actually take them seriously.

8/10 is a solid ranking for a PREview. They have to let a "door open" for a better Ranking if the final version got rid of bugs that were in the alpha (or whatever they tested).

Like "squishy" low-res textures on some items. And we don't know if they even had the full audio that will be in the final game. That gets big points to atmosphere. They couldn't test the full story i assume and i would be suprised if they had all the "fun" optional missions in their versions...

... just my opinion on how to react on a PREview ...

So itīs the old rule: a game has not 90% or more, itīs not worth to buy? do you really think so?
You should remember that those game testers want to have the perfect game, which has everything,
fun, good gameplay, photorealistic graphics and a "nice story".

Most of us in this forum are more interested in an open world sandbox fun game. So its the best game
we can get. Donīt give a damn about the missing 5 %, we donīt need a freakin awsome story.

And we all know, that some ratings of some hyped games are just bought, they have the money for such things..

I read part os a uk 360 magazine review. He made it sound like the camera and controls were off, but he couldn't help sounding like all he did was mash buttons spasticly. Overall he sounded like he had all the finesse of a deer on rollerskates.
