View Full Version : Mcm confirmed: landing gear retracts automatically depending on speed.

Stupid idea. So if I want to land on water safely ( low speed ) so I must land with landing gear down?????!

AssassinsMassCasue

how is it stupid? Just Cause isn't really about realistic reactions. It's about fun reactions. In all likelihood, you can land on the water (if at all) with your landing gear down.

how are you going to land on water? I dont think there are any water planes or whatever you call them

tauciux
02-21-2010, 12:52 PM
Maybe. But it's better than jc1 there landing gear is always down.

nismo280zx
02-21-2010, 12:52 PM
Ummm who lands a plane, without floats, on the water. Planes with normal landing gears tend not to land safely on water that's why runways tend to be on land, well besides aircraft carriers

matonking
02-21-2010, 12:52 PM
well if its dependent on speed then thats not as bad as if it was altitude dependent

If it depends on speed then you can land safely. =/

tauciux
02-21-2010, 12:55 PM
Yeah . but it would be better if it is possible to manually retract landing gear.

nismo280zx
02-21-2010, 12:57 PM
Jc1 let you manually retract on the pc version, but on consoles they tend to run out of buttons to use

a plane can land on water relitavely safely if the landing gear is retracted...

I think that they must include manually retractable gear in one of PC JC2 patches.

nismo280zx
02-21-2010, 01:07 PM
Lol "relatively safely". That cracks me up, they don't call that landing, it's still called crashing. It's not like your gonna take off again, and well they have to come in nose up to survive, but i'm thinking I'll stick to my parachute

bull ****, when entering or exiting a vehicle the botton lay out changes automaticaly.

so your telling me with a total of 16 bottons on a ps3 controller.

2 used for accelerating/reversing
1 used for hand break
1 used for entering or exiting
1 used for steering
1 used for camera view
1 used for stunt position

thats 7/16 bottons used up.

Ages ago I heard that it was distance from the ground that would determine the state of landing gear, oh well, speed is a good factor for me :)

nismo280zx
02-21-2010, 01:14 PM
Well the grapple release is still active when in a vehicle in jc2, and can you confirm that only 7 buttons are used. What about rudder control, and weapons for that matter

i was just using 7/16 as an example.. weapons arent used in the vehicles.. so no drive-bys unfortunetly..

rudder is normally right analogue stick and pitch or roll is used in the left analogue stick.

at most it would be 10 bottons.

OH NO! dont tell me its true, thats is a bad idea. What if in high speed i wanted to descend to skim on a runway and then up again with my wheels down?

exacly what a dumb **** way of retracting **** **** i don't **** understand i mean who the **** decided this **** **** dumb **** :mad2::mad2:;):mad2:

Yeah I gathered that maton, I was just saying that since buttons are remapped for each vehicle, the planes controls will be mapped for weapons due to certain planes having weapons. But we will have to wait for the demo to know how controls are mapped, either that or the upcoming interview.

I'm just saying that there has to be a reason for having it automated

Oh sure bust out the video of the plane going down due to engine failure, and something that is hardly ever done safely.

Yeah unfortunately once he discovered that the engine failed, it was no late to power down and stop the plane in time.

He chose to land it in the river because it was the only way to ensure no one on the ground would be injured.

I for one have never landed a plane in the Just Cause series. It was probably just an asthetic choice.

HHDnBKing!
02-21-2010, 03:23 PM
what if i was speeding on the runway for a while b4 take off, would it fold up while on the runway?

Haha! :thumb:  Manually beats automatically there!

Anubisstargate
02-21-2010, 03:47 PM
Maybe the fact of going high speed and landing would mean you might snap the wheels and crash anyway, so what's difference? High speed scraping fun or high speed snap wheels scraping fun, little difference me thinks.

Besides, towing a plane through water by boat sounds fun to me :D

MiracleMax
02-21-2010, 03:52 PM
Look.... Get in the plane, take off, go to your destination... crash the plane! ...buy a *NEW PRETTY* plane... CRASH THE PLANE!!!!

I for one have never landed a plane in the Just Cause series.

Me to

never landed plane in JC1 mostly because you can't land without hitting something like a car or those super trees that don't fall down:mad: and it's faster to just freefall

Anubisstargate
02-21-2010, 04:18 PM
In a game like this .... CRASH landing is too epic to give it a pass

skater150
02-21-2010, 05:17 PM
i landed a plane a few times in jc1 it was dumb cuz u couldnt taxi around on the runways or anything its alot easier to crash land but landing is interesting

landing on water is a crash landing unless its a water plane so forget landing safely on water.

All this--over landing gear? With all the mayhem and chaos in this game, I don't think I'll even notice if the wheels of my plane are retracted.

We don't need no stinking landing gears.

yup! If it's good enough for Battlestations it is good enough for JC2.
